Predictions updated

Well, it appears I was wrong about the economy – at first glance.  At a deeper look, I think I’m dead on.

Missed completely on Iran.  The US Government and many pundits are still making the case that we have to “do something” about Iran – and we have moved a second carrier into proximity.  But it’s still not a shooting match, and it’s past my predicted date.

Kids and employment

Here’s an odd bit that bothers me. Since 2000, about 43-44% of kids 16-19 are employed.
“So?” you ask. Well, from 1968 through 1999 the number ranged from 50-54%. In fact, excluding 1958-1968 (and especially 1960-1964), the bottom’s never been lower than 49% since as long as the BEA’s recorded the numbers. [...]
