I had a thought the other day, and for a change I’m going to write it down.
I see thousands of articles that say, “Torture does not work.” It does, and that’s an insidious part of the problem.
Torture does work. So does commuting to work on a unicycle. There are narrow, rare situations where it may be the best option. To make a policy allowing torture as a general process is akin to setting aside a special lane just for unicycles. It’s a critical waste of resources when other options serve better .
