This one’s more of a simple tip for the onset of cooler weather (a bit late for most of the country, of course).
When defrosting the windshield, turn on the air conditioner. No, don’t push the temperature down to low, put it whereever you need, but turn on the air conditioner.
Here’s the deal in simple. In addition to true frost, a big problem is the fog that develops on the windshield. That’s due to the warm air inside your car carrying more moisture which condenses on the cold windshield. Now the air conditioner works in no small part by squeezing moisture from the air. Thus what hits your windshield is DRY air, counteracting that moisture problem.
If you’re dealing with interior ice you’re out of luck till things warm up. But between the ice and clear is still that fog point, and this will get things clear a lot faster.
