Fun and Freedom

It’s been long enough I’m writing anew rather than edit the prior message.

Fun and freedom are the big drivers in the US. If it lets us have more fun, it’s great. If it lets us have more freedom, it’s great.

Caveat the freedom issue. Freedom is not just “hey, I’m not chained to a desk/office/building,” though that can’t be ignored. But if I PERCEIVE that I can only have some music or only approved software or, well, you get the idea, it’s not really freedom.

Amazon killed the iPad. It did so when they removed Orwell’s books from the Kindle. Now Jobs is saying, basically, that only what he allows may be put on the iPad. So it’s not really freedom, it’s YOUR device that I am just… leasing.
