All your car are belong to us

I ran across this story recently and I must share.

There is a new market for the anti-virus folk. See, a couple of years ago a researcher asked, basically, “what if the sudden acceleration problem were a hack instead of operator error or design flaw?” Followed by, “I wonder if it’s possible?”

When the answer to that second question turned out to be “YES” the follow-on question was “how many ways are there, anyway?”

From that we get the story I linked. In some new model cars with an MP3 player, a malicious string can be inserted into a song file which opens the rest of the system to the attacker.

Just doing my part to blur the line between paranoia and “they’re really out to get you.”
